I'm missing the point of a free-ride I guess. Why just tag along and not fight with the group? If... well, no really, I just don't get it. If you die someone will rez you. If no one will rez you, then your in a bad group anyway. If anything, your skills and "shots" will help get to the end sooner...
I'm just missing the point of a free ride. Seems like a dull way to play (or not to play depending on how you look at it) and a sure way to not get re-invited the next time around.
PS. This post really has me baffled and I don't know why... lol

Well, I was playing with a couple of people in the 'new' UW, halfway the 3rd map I had to go and eat, half of my party said I should leave and the other half didn't mind me staying afk there, I stayed way back at the beginning of the map so if something dropped it was not me who it was getting assigned to. I came back when they were halfway through the fourth map, when it was getting hard for them. I helped them and we succeeded in killing the Darknesses, ironically I got Milius' Eye and Victo's Blade.
Do you guys consider this a wrong thing to do? I would like to know, thanks!

Go with guildies - safest way to avoid jerks like that, the one's along for the free ride. Or you could just take henchies (HAHAHAHA!)
Now that they've got the mapping feature to the entire party, if you catch someone leeching, just map back to the outpost, kick the loser, and pick up a replacement.

I think it's wrong. Knowing that this mission takes 2 to 3 hours, you should be able to set the time aside to complete the mission. I can understand running to get a drink and use the bathroom, but damn, just bring your food to your computer.

I ran into the same thing. Problem was... it was out second monk doing it (I was the other). Surprisingly, we survived the first level, during which we were calling him out trying to get a little support. Good pug otherwise... smart on the aggro, etc. Second level, the free-rider simply charges out in aggro, gets everyone killed (including himself), says "You guys suck" and leaves.
Real pity too... we replaced him with another monk and went all the way. A little help, he'd have had his shot at a green.

had someone like that in the original uw - wanted everyone to have 1mil xp/wish'd there was a minimum, everyone else is a noob, goes on to get himself killed, be useless, spam all our chat channels, and start all the quests so we die. wtf is the point? only this SOB knows.
some lame monk which I'll refrain from posting the name... not sure why but I will.

4 runs over the past 2 days and completely no drops for me, I don't know anymore... Mind you, it is not like there is a shortage of loot, there is enough loot to go around, but no, SOMEONE just gotta get two. Somehow my party is so kind that someone else is more deserving of the 2nd one and my "assigns" it to him while I get squat. It just isn't right.

In fact it is easy to kinda make it seem like you are doing something. Hell, just get something like Macromaker, and periodically cast a attunement and keep following the party. Maybe even throw a nuke from time to time.
It is really no biggie.
What we really need is Karma, a way for party members to leave feedback. AND have drops that depend on karma ratings.

Report him you have his name(hopefully) and a screen shot of him being a rider, it is the same as a free run.

So, from this topic I gather some 55's have found a way to get into the new UW? Not surprising really, most teams dont want to take them into the new UW from what I've seen.
Good for them (not) but it wont happen to me, if I see anyone like that I'll make sure I jump back to town, I'd rather waste some time then give a jerk like that a free ride and I think most players will feel the same way.
Had a 55'er with us the other day, after 3 deaths he kinda stayed dead, rebirth wouldnt get him back up, I think we ressed him 12 times just for the laugh it gave us

as much as I dont like the abuse of a kick a leader could do at the end of the run. it sure would be nice to be able to kick a guy like that.. oh well..

I think a "Call Vote" would be perfect in a situation like this.
Someone in the group calls a vote (/kickplayer 'Name Here' or something similar) and the others act uppon it by simply typing /1 or /2. (1=YES 2=NO)
If majority rules YES, then the game kicks a player back to outpost where you came from and you continue your mission happily without the jerk.

well actually I come across many of these ppl, but I don't bother to much with it.. yes its irritating, but everybody is always acting like PUG's are horrible, I've played many times with PUG groups and met alot of nice ppl, yes offcourse there are some dirty appels (spelling :s) in there but look at the bright side you learn new ppl...
I got to admit that these things are very irritating

cause people who know each other will make groups and then will kick out people after the nightmares are dead and before you could pick up your loot
anyways, this happens all the time.... well either that or they are just crappy monks who dont back up with the rest of the team and die alot

I tried UW one time and one time only. I was playing my monk, and in the group that I joined there were two others. I figured 3 was a bit much, but as I'd never been I didn't say anything, perhaps it was difficult enough to warrant that. Get down there...2 55 monks went different directions, pulled tons of agro back to the group to get everyone killed, then farm up the place.
That's all I needed to see, no more UW for me, I don't need to lose money to put up with that. I play nearly all pvp these days, unless a guildmate needs one of my pve chars to assist on something.
